Couples planning to be married at St. Peter Church must contact the parish office at least six months prior to the wedding date. Instructions and one of the Diocesan Pre-Marital Programs are required before marriage. Your priest will be able to recommend the right program for you! Helpful Hints: Call the office at 252-7551 as soon as you're ready to book the church. Spaces fill up quickly and far in advance. All brides and grooms need a baptismal certificate, less than six months old, from the parish of baptism. This can be obtained by calling that parish and requesting that a copy be sent to either you, your priest, or the church of marriage. If a previous marriage was contracted by either party, a copy of the annulment papers or a proof of death of the previous partner is necessary. Required: - Marriage Prep Program - 2-3 planning sessions with your priest. - Permission for a Catholic bride who is not a member of St. Peter Parish must be obtained from the pastor of her church. - These requirements are also necessary for Catholics marrying in a non-Catholic church ceremony. A valid Kentucky marriage license is required at least by the time of your rehearsal. You may obtain this at any county courthouse. This license is to be presented to the priest at the rehearsal. Call the county clerk's office at 253-3344 for more information. Also, before your date and time are confirmed, it may be helpful to check with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government to be certain that there is not going to be any planned civic activity that may interfere with you and your guests. Please feel free to call or e-mail us with any questions you may have, or if you would like to check on the availability of the church on a desired date. We are looking forward to celebrating with you
