Another part of belonging to and participating
in parish life is giving your time and
talent. The members of our Parish Council
and committees reflect the varied and
committed concerns and interests found
among our parishioners.
Parish
Council
The
purpose of our Parish Council is to
assist the pastor and the parish in
achieving its mission as expressed in
our Mission Statement.
Its members are elected by the parishioners
in an annual election and each member
serves for 3 years.
The
pastor meets monthly with the Parish
Council which is his advisory board
in decision-making in matters involving
ministries, service, community, buildings
& grounds, as well as others which
may be presented either by the community
or our Pastor.

Committees
Buildings
& Grounds - Paula DeBoor, Chair
The
Buildings & Grounds Committee
works with the pastor and the Maintenance
Manager to ensure that our property
and buildings look their best, inside
and out. This includes the preventive
maintenance and repairs of the buildings
as well as the year-round upkeep of
the church grounds.
Finance
- John Price, Chair
The
Finance Committee assists the pastor
and pastoral associate in planning,
providing for, and supervising the
parish resources, budget, and plant
maintenance; and develops the budget
with the pastor and pastoral associate
for approval by the Parish Council.
The committee also reviews, approves,
and signs the annual financial report
of the parish. Consent of this committee
is required before an amount in excess
of $3,000 is spent on unbudgeted items.
Recommendations
of this committee are regulated by
Church law, by decisions and norms
of the Bishop, and by the diocesan
Finance Council. The committee also
communicates and cooperates with the
Parish Council regarding parish fundraising
efforts.
Liturgy
The
purpose of this committee is to plan
and provide for the spiritual development
of our parish community through meaningful
liturgies, devotions, and other programs
that enable people to pray and to
love God. They are responsible for
Sunday worship through solicitation
and formation of special ministers
of Liturgy, including extraordinary
ministers of Communion, lectors, sacristans,
servers, ushers/greeters, and caretakers
of the altar and sanctuary. They also
assist in preparing for holy days
and special days of prayer.
Formation
The
purpose of the Formation Committee
is to insure that a comprehensive
program of Catholic Faith Formation
is available to the total membership
of the parish. The committee, in collaboration
with the Director of Faith Formation,
is responsible for:
- ensuring
that Faith Formation programs are
available in the areas of catechesis
and sacramental preparation;
- serving
as a policy-making body for the
faith formation of the total parish
community;
- submitting
budget and financial reports to
the Finance Council and Parish Council
as requested; and
- assessing
the formation needs of the parish
and planning appropriate programs
to meet identified needs.
Archives
- Bill Karutz
The
Archives Committee is dedicated to
the preservation and collection of
St. Peter Church relics, with a special
emphasis on history. The committee
sorts and documents existing items
relative to the church. It also seeks
to obtain items that once belonged
to the church and copies old photographs
and documents with a view of presenting
in written and photographic form our
long history.
An
oral historical tour of the church
is in the making, along with an informational
booklet. A book chronicling St. Peter's
almost 200 year history will be a
five-year endeavor. The committee
will work hard to provide our parishioners
and the city of Lexington with a grand
celebration on our 200th birthday.
Youth
Council - Ramona Bowling
The
purpose of the Youth Council is to
assess the needs of, plan for, and
advocate for the youth (middle/high
school) of the parish. Working with
the Director of Faith Formation, the
council strives to incorporate the
youth into the church by empowering
them for service, encouraging them
to find ways to express their faith,
and providing them with the spiritual
tools to become full members of the
parish community.
Fundraising
The
Fundraising Committee strives to help
St. Peter Parish grow and thrive.
The committee works hard to help parishioners
have fun while sharing their talents
and treasures with fellow parishioners.
Anyone can join their committee meetings.
Everyone is encouraged to join for
the fun!
Social
The
Social Committee plans parish activities
which bring everyone together so we
can get to know each other better.
The committee hosts holiday events
and plans receptions for special occasions.
