We are a Roman Catholic parish in the
Diocese of Lexington, Kentucky. Our
family of faith has been a sanctuary
and source of guidance for thousands
of God’s people for almost 200 years.
Members as well as newcomers have gathered
to worship, learn, reach out in service,
and be Christ for one another.
Early
pioneer Catholics in Lexington worshipped
in their homes and in a log chapel until
the first church, Saint Peter, was built
on Third Street in 1812. Popular missionary
priest, Father Stephen Badin, was responsible
for building the church. The site, with
its own cemetery, was then on the outskirts
of town.
